It's Just 100 Days To Election Day!
July 10, 2021

It’s difficult to believe that it’s been just 54 days since we launched the Sohi for Mayor campaign, and there are only a hundred days to go until election day on October 18th!

Our Campaign So Far

Reflecting on the past 54 days, I’m so humbled and honoured by the conversations and engagement we’ve had with the people of this city. We’ve talked about difficult topics: hate-based violence and racial discrimination, our city’s economic future, and 2SLGBTQ+ rights and community, just to name a few.

I’ve gotten to speak directly with hundreds of Edmontonians about their vision and ambitions for this city, and also about the struggles and challenges they are facing. These conversations are shaping the policy proposals and ideas that we will be releasing in the next 100 days, and I will carry the ideas and experiences you’ve shared with me forward throughout this campaign and beyond.

Your Support

As I said after our first week of campaigning, when I first considered running for Mayor, I was nervous. This is a city-wide campaign, unlike any I have done before. I didn’t know how people would react and how much support we would receive.

But the reaction has been truly overwhelming; hundreds of people have signed up to volunteer, hundreds more have donated. We’ve been inundated with sign requests, and I’ve personally received such touching encouragement from people from across this city and beyond. I’m so proud to be working with such a devoted team, and I am looking forward to the months ahead as we have the chance to connect with even more people.

Looking Ahead

The campaign will be difficult over the coming months, no question. The challenges facing our city are significant, and we can see that there are big differences of opinion on how to best address those challenges.

But as we enter the next phase of this campaign, I feel encouraged by all of you – everyone who has engaged with me on issues of policy, everyone who has shared their support. I believe today more than ever that we can move forward as a city, united by our love for this place and our commitment to working together to make it better for every person who lives in, works in, or visits Edmonton.

As we look down the road to the next hundred days, all I’ll ask is that you keep up your support – it means so much to me and is so important to our ability to engage with Edmontonians. Reach out to us to volunteer, donate, or get a lawn sign delivered; you can also sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page.

Once again, thank you so much for your support and encouragement – let’s have fun, stay connected and really enjoy the coming summer and fall as an opportunity to have better, deeper conversations about this city we all love.
