New Ward Boundaries for 2010
In June 2009, Council approved a new electoral system: beginning in the 2010 election, there will be twelve Wards, with one Councillor per Ward.
The current Ward 6 will be split into three new Wards:
Ward 12
Ward 12 includes the entire area that falls south of Whitemud Drive and east of 50 Street. Further south, it also includes the entire area south of Anthony Henday Drive and east of Gateway Boulevard.
Ward 12 includes the following neighbourhoods:
- Mill Woods: Bisset, Crawford Plains, Daly Grove, Minchau, Pollard Meadows, Weinlos
- Burnewood: Jackson Heights, Kiniski Gardens
- Meadows: Larkspur, Silver Berry, Tamarack, Wild Rose
- Ellerslie Area: Charlesworth, Ellerslie, Summerside, The Orchards, Walker
I live in the new Ward 12.
Ward 11
South of Whitemud Drive, Ward 11 includes all of Mill Woods west of 50 Street. North of Whitemud, Ward 11 includes the area east of Gateway Boulvard and south of Whyte Avenue.
Ward 11 includes the following neighbourhoods:
- Ekota
- Greenview
- Hillview
- Kameyosek
- Lee Ridge
- Menisa
- Meyokumin
- Meyonohk
- Michaels Park
- Mill Woods Town Centre
- Richfield
- Sakaw
- Satoo
- Tawa
- Tipaskan
- Tweddle Place
- Mature neighbourhoods: Argyll, Avonmore, Hazeldean, King Edward Park, Ritchie
Ward 8
The northern part of the current Ward 6 will belong to the new Ward 8. Ward 8 includes the following neighbourhoods formerly of Ward 6:
- Capilano
- Fulton Place
- Gold Bar
- Ottewell
- Kenilworth
Ward 8 also includes the entire area between Whyte Avenue and the river.
