Transit service improvements coming this fall

Transit service improvements approved in the 2011 budget come into effect on August 28. Based on motions I made during Council's budget deliberations last winter, we'll see improvements especially to off-peak service (midday, weekend, evening) in the southeast. As outward growth continues in our city, it's critical we provide efficient public transit service to newer areas.

Here is a summary of some major changes coming into effect in Ward 12:

Route 78 (Mill Woods TC / Century Park)

Route extended to Mill Woods and Century Park (via South Edmonton Common)
Weekday early evening service added
Sunday midday service added

Route 67 (Mill Woods / Silvery Berry)

Weekday early evening service added
Saturday midday service added
Sunday midday service added
Weekday service will begin 30 minutes earlier

Route 89 (Meadows / Tamarack)

Weekday early evening service added
Saturday midday service added
Sunday midday service added

* (The following routes will be cancelled, as they are replaced by Routes 78 and 79: Route 92 (Ellerslie / Century Park); Route 93 (Summerside / Century Park); Route 314 (Walker / Mill Woods.)

Fantastic! I wasn't sure how the 93 was working with 79 so this seems great!

Well improvements of transit service resulted pretty positively till now. I guess the people of southeast are pretty satisfied of this change. The route summaries are pretty informative. Thanks
