Opening Ceremonies Black History Month

Feb

2010

As a municipal councillor and citizen who is concerned with Edmonton’s cultural community. I couldn’t be more proud to be at Londonderry Mall on January 30th, 2010 to celebrate the history of black people in our community.

The contributions that the Black and Caribbean communities have made to Edmonton have been profound.

The organization of this annual festival was a prime example.

Each February, Canadians come together to celebrate the rich and spirited heritage of our black community a heritage that is intertwined with the founding of our great country and city.

As multiculturalism is one of my council initiatives. I work hard to promote learning and cooperation between cultural communities.

The National Black Coalition of Canada – Edmonton Chapter has done an excellent job of doing just that.

I want to thank them for all their hard work and continuous contributions.
