Heartland Transmission Project Information Session
03
2010
Beginning March 16, the Alberta Utilities Commission will be holding information sessions at six locations throughout the greater Edmonton region to explain its public hearing process, how potentially-affected parties can participate in the process and details of the regulator’s local intervener funding program.
Each session will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a presentation covering the AUC’s hearing process and intervener funding, followed by a question and answer period.
On Thursday, March 25th 2010, an information session takes place Woodvale Facility & Golf Clubhouse (4540-50 Street). This is an opportunity for the people of Ward 6 affected by the preferred East TUC route to express their opinions about the route.
As you may know, Councillor Thiele and I have written to the Heartland Transmission Project Team on behalf of the residents of Ward 6, who will be directly impacted by this project, and expressed our disappointment with this decision.
We are at a loss to understand why a route that impacts more residents was selected as a preferred route.
We also note that the East TUC route passes through a major urban centre having the greatest visual impact on our communities. We believe that the construction of these huge transmission lines will alter the aesthetics of our communities forever unless the transmission lines are constructed underground.
Heartland Transmission Project has been an ongoing concern and we will continue to advocate on your behalf in order to find a satisfactory solution to the matter.
I encourage you all to attend this information session and voice your opinions on the Heartland Transmission Project.
