On March 8th, 2010, Council adopted the Maple Ridge Industrial Area Plan. The plan has six major components all of which adhere to the focus areas of building a business positive sustainable urban environment and diverse communities.
I want to acknowledge all the people who came to the public hearings to express their views and opinions.
Here is a more detailed description of Bylaw 15357. The Area Structure Plan proposes:
- Industrial land uses will predominate in the plan area through a mix of business, light and medium industrial uses, while accommodating a number of existing uses including a snow dump, stormwater management facilities, park sites, a mobile home park and neighbourhood commercial, and a cemetery.
- That the existing country residential known as Hurstwood is expected to transition to compatible industrial uses over the long term.
- A high standard of appearance for development along major roadways and abutting residential.
- Powerline rights-of-way will be landscaped and utilized for pedestrian and/or bicycle circulation where appropriate.
- Fulton Creek, as part of the North Saskatchewan River Valley system, will be protected as a significant natural area.
- An open space system that is well connected.
